High on a hilltop on Sri Lanka's southern coast sits Tekanda Lodge, handcrafted among jungle hills and surrounded by ten acres of private estate, yet minutes from the Indian Ocean.

As seen in Condé Nast Traveller:
”The best hotels in Sri Lanka

Tekanda Lodge, near the coastal town of Ahangama, overlooks the Sri Lankan jungle from the heights of a breathtaking hilltop. Wrapped in ten acres of its own private estate with 360° views including Koggala Lake to the west and distant views of the Indian Ocean to the south, Tekanda offers jungle tranquility only minutes from the beach.

Built in wood, natural stone and Sri Lankan iluk, the six-bedroom lodge with an emerald infinity pool blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings.

Across the estate, around which guests can roam, you will find a blend of organic tea, cinnamon, coconut palm and wild jungle. It is a breezy, alive space where indigenous species of wildlife, flora and fauna can flourish.

The Lodge is available either on a room-by-room basis, exclusive use for families and friends or as a destination for hosted retreats.

Tekanda Life

When we set out to build Tekanda Lodge, we wanted it to be a space that would make guests feel at home but yet connected to day-to-day Sri Lankan life.

Whether it is a morning trip to the local fish market, learning to cook a Sri Lankan dhal with our head chef, helping with tea weighing on the estate, fishing on Koggala Lake or simply chatting with the locals in the village, we are passionate about sharing our love for Sri Lanka with our guests and offering them a glimpse of authentic Sri Lankan life.

Village scenes

Tekanda Days

Wake up to the symphony of the surrounding wildlife as dawn breaks. Perhaps a morning surf or walk on the beach before breakfast and then a swim in our emerald pool. Later, maybe take a yoga class on our scenic outdoor deck or venture out to experience local village life followed by a sunset drink on the beach.

Gather after sundown for dinner freshly prepared by our head chef and served up either family-style around our communal table or, if you would prefer, on our private dining deck or quietly on your room verandah.
